Downed Wires Close Route 1 In Both Directions

Utility wires that went down across Route 1 forced the closure of the highway late Friday morning.

Falls Township police said the wires were down along Route 1 near the MY Lane bridge. The downed wires forced the closure of both directions of travel, which is expected to last into the afternoon.

Drivers told LevittownNow.com the wires went down shortly before 10:30 a.m.

The southbound lanes of Route 1 were closed at Pennsylvania Avenue, and the Northbound lanes were closed at the Route 32 ramp, police said.

Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area and use an alternative route.
