For the first time in more than a month, the Middletown Township Police Department is fully staffed.
This week marked the first time in 42 days that the police department has not had any officers out due to COVID-19, police Chief Joseph Bartorilla told LevittownNow.com.

The nine officers who had COVID-19 have all recovered and have been cleared by medical professionals to return to duty.
“For the first time since March 16th, we have no one in the department who is positive. Hopefully that lasts,” Bartorilla said.
The nine officers who recovered will be tested for coronavirus antibodies this week. The officers plan to make donate their plasma for virus research and treatment, the chief said.

While having about a fifth of the department positive with COVID-19, Middletown did not require neighboring towns to assist with filling shifts and coverage. Over the past few weeks, Bartorilla commended his officers who stepped forward to work overtime to fill shifts and handle calls.
