For most, ninth wedding anniversaries aren’t known for being monumental celebrations like silver, golden, and diamond anniversaries. But for Joshua and Moselle Conger, this year’s ninth anniversary will certainly be one they will remember.

The high school sweethearts celebrated their anniversary with a fancy steak dinner in their driveway with their two kids – Reghan, 8, and Grayson, 7 – and neighbors offering congratulations from a safe distance.

Before COVID-19 shutdown nearly everything, the couple was planning a romantic dinner at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in Philadelphia as a special occasion.

“When this started, they called us and cancelled the reservation. I said to my husband in a group text message that we’ll just do it in the driveway as a joke,” Moselle said.

From there, Joshua and Moselle began planning their anniversary dinner.

On Wednesday evening after a bout of daytime rain, the driveway of their home was transformed into an al fresco dining venue. The pavement was decorated with chalk artwork, a dinner table was set with help from the kids, and a sign reading “Welcome to La Mesa Casa de Conger” was hung from the garage of their home in the Mill Creek Falls neighborhood in Bristol Township’s Levittown section.

Joshua purchased the steaks at Acme.

“I don’t always like steak from the grocery store … but this was fantastic,” Moselle admitted.

Neighbors practiced social distancing but came outside to celebrate with the family. One neighbor even made a dessert. Another neighbor took photos for the family.

Reghan and Grayson, who have been bugging their mom to get outside of the house, helped set up the table and ate with them. Despite it being a bit chilly, the kids didn’t complain one bit because they were happy to be eating outside.

“I probably wouldn’t remember a ninth anniversary at Del Frisco’s, but I’ll remember a ninth anniversary in my driveway with my husband,” Moselle said. “I think we’ll all remember.”
