Pennsylvania State Police have identified the man found dead on I-295 early Sunday.

Joshua McRae, 31, Trenton, died after suffering multiple gun shot wounds, state police said, confirm LevittownNow.com’s earlier reporting.

The death of a man found on I-295 in Bristol Township early Sunday morning is being investigated as a homicide.

Sources told LevittownNow.com that the man found along the eastbound lanes of I-295, just past where I-95 branches off and heads toward New Jersey, suffered gunshot wounds.

State police spokesperson Trooper Nathan Branosky said the body was discovered around 2 a.m.

James O’Malley, the spokesman for the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, confirmed Pennsylvania State Police and Bucks County Detectives were handling the investigation, but he was unable to confirm the manner of death.

No arrests had been made as of 11 a.m.

Members of the state police Troop M Criminal Investigation Unit were on the scene throughout the early morning. A truck driver told this news organization that troopers were combing the highway with their flashlights looking for evidence after the body was discovered.

Fire police and firefighters assisted state police in closing I-295 before it reopened after daybreak.

The death of a man who was found on I-295 in Bristol Township was under investigation on Sunday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers responded to the eastbound lanes of I-295, just past where I-95 branches off and heads toward New Jersey, around 2 a.m. for a report of a deceased man on the highway, said Trooper Nathan Branosky, a public information officer based in Bethlehem.

The highway was closed for several hours as state police investigators processed the scene. The highway reopened shortly after daybreak.
