Bucks County will have a new chief public defender in the new year.
The Marseglia-Harvie Transition Committee announced that longtime public defenderย Ann Russavage-Faust will lead the department following the January 6 inauguration for the Democratic-majorityย Bucks County Commissioners.

Russavage-Faust has served as the administrative deputy public defender since 1988. She handled administrative duties andย wrote briefs and argued numerous appellate cases, including death penalty appeals. They attorney has alsoย served as a trial attorney for a multitude of major felony, misdemeanor, and death penalty trials.
โAfter more than 30 years in the Public Defenderโs Office, Ann knows and understands the innerworkings of the office,โ Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia said. โShe is a natural fit as our Chief Public Defender, and we are excited to welcome her in this new role.โ
The transition team saidย Russavage-Faust graduated a Juris Doctor degree in 1986 from Dickinson School of Law, where she was a member of the International Law Journal. Russavage-Faust graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Duke University in 1983.

The Bucks County Public Defender’s Office provided counsel forย indigent defendants in all phases of criminal defense, mental health, and domestic relations proceedings. It also represents defendants inย parole hearings, juvenile, patients in mental health proceedings, non-support cases, protection from abuse cases, paternity suits, and domestic relations cases.
