A Philadelphia man was arrested earlier this month for allegedly attempting to obtain a vehicle registration and title using fraudulent documents.

Juan F. Lopez-Barco, 32, of Philadelphia, was charged with multiple counts of tampering with public records and possession of sale/use display documents. He was also charged with a single count of false identification to law enforcement.

Tullytown police were alerted in September that Lopez-Barco was at a tags business in the borough’s Levittown section trying to pass fraudulent documents in an attempt to obtain a Pennsylvania title and registration. He was told to come back and intercepted by police, according to court papers.

A Pennsylvania State Police trooper assigned to the vehicle fraud unit responded and was presented a fake identification from Lopez-Barco, the trooper wrote in court papers.

State police said they discovered Lopez-Barco also had a warrant for allegedly passing fraudulent driver license copies in Montgomery County.

Lopez-Barco was taken to the state police barracks in Philadelphia and arraigned. He was released on his own recognizance.
