Mill Street will be lighting up for the holiday season starting Thursday.

Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar will light up the central business district with 10,000 sparkling holiday lights wrapped around the streetlights. To celebrate the โ€œMiracle on Mill,” the group will hold a celebration and stores will extend their hours and offer specials.

Bill Pezza, chairman of Raising the Bar, said the lights will automatically turn on once it gets dark.ย A DJ will kick off the festivities with tunes around 4:45 p.m. Face painting and a balloon artist will start at 5:45 p.m. along with live music and dancers. A short ceremony outside of the Centre for the Arts will be held at 6 p.m.

“We’re trying to make it a nice night and a party,” he said.

Business owners met weeks ago to begin making preparations and were planning to raise funds to cover the $5,000 for the new lights. William Penn Bank, which recently moved its headquarters from Middletown to the borough, offered to donate the money to celebrate their relocation, Pezza said.
