After announcing their intention to hire a new director of building, planning, and code enforcement who will also serve as the assistant township manager, the Falls Township Board of Supervisors approved their candidate.
Matthew Takita was hired by the Supervisors Tuesday evening at a starting salary of $120,000 per year. He started work Tuesday.

Before being hired by Falls Township, Takita was Bensalem’s director of building and planning for 24 years until leaving in 2018 to start MTA LLC Architecture & Urban Design.
“He’s very, very highly recommended,” Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said.
Last month, Harvie said Takita’s name came up as they were considering beginning a formal search to fill the position. His qualifications and previous work experience had the supervisors jump at the chance to hire him.

Former Chief Zoning Officer Tom Bennett resigned in summer. Last month, Bennett stated at a public meeting that he was pressured to pass a home earlier this summer, which led to a suspension and his resignation.
Takita takes on the assistant township manager role and will assist Township Manager Peter Gray, who planned to resigned but later changed his mind.
