A mid-October start is expected for Falls Township’s road program.

The Board of Supervisors awarded a contract for $1,617,389.85 to General Asphalt Paving Company Inc. so they could complete a full-depth reconstruction of Rice Drive, Fletcher Drive and Lions Drive. In addition, a portion of Elbow Lane between Stony Hill Road and the Falls Township and Lower Makefield boundary will be improved and repaved.

Joe Jones, the township engineer, said the project came in more than $100,000 under budget.

Supervisors Chairman Bob Harvie said the township has projected out what township-owned roads will need to be repair and improved in the future. The amount of roadway included the project varies based on that year’s budget.
