The ship will host a public sail Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and a dockside Welcome Party on the ship from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Two sails are planned per day at noon and 4 p.m. on both Friday and Sunday. On Saturday, the ship will offer a sail at noon and deck tours from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The tall ship is offering tickets for $50 for adults and $35 for ages 17 and under with deck tours costing $10 for adults and $5 for child. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling 1-302-429-7447.

“Kalmar Nyckel’s first visit to Bristol is sure to be entertaining. Our goal is to give people a chance to enjoy sailing and experience a slice of maritime history for themselves,” said Cathy Parsells, executive director of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation, which owns the replica ship.

Before visiting Bristol, the Delaware-based Kalmar Nyckel sailed this summer to Norfork, Virginia; Cambridge, Maryland; Provincetown and Salem, Massachusetts; and Yonkers, New York.

The Kalmar Nyckel Foundation operates the cira-1997 tall ship that is an educational replica of the flagship from the 1638 expedition that founded the colony of New Sweden, which was the first permanent European settlement along the Delaware River.
