The 2002 black Nissan Maxima had crashed through the fence, causing heavy damage, and a witness relayed that the driver was Ryan Robert Dougherty, 25, of Bristol Township. The witness further stated that Dougherty had fled the scene, police said.
The witness, according to court papers, told police he chased Dougherty and told him to return to the crash scene.
A second witness reportedly also identified the driver who fled as Dougherty.

The crashed Maxima was not owned by Dougherty and officers contacted the owner, police said.
The owner of the vehicle said he allowed his daughter, Dougherty’s girlfriend, to use his Maxima for the day. He never gave Dougherty permission to use the vehicle, police said.

Dougherty allegedly came by his girlfriend’s dad’s home shortly before the crash and demanding to know where the woman was at. He also stated the car was his now, police said.
Dougherty’s girlfriend told police she was parked in front of Magnolia Park in the car when the 25-year-old man pulled her out by the arm before driving away. The altercation allegedly happened after she refused to give Dougherty drug money.
Dougherty ended up being captured by police and charged early Monday with theft, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, accident causing damage to property, and driving without a license. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $75,000 bail.

According to court records, Dougherty pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct earlier this year following a 2018 incident in Bristol Township. On Monday, he was expected at the Justice Center in Doylestown on a retail theft case out of Bensalem.
