Complaints to Middletown officials have led to planned traffic calming measures along Snowball Drive in Levittown.
The township plans to add a 6-foot shoulder to the side of the drive closer to the residences and a 1-foot buffer on the other side. The shoulder and buffer shoulder would be painted on with line striping paint, said Assistant to the Township Manager Scott Sadowsky.

The lanes of travel on the drive would each be 9-feet-wide.

Sadowsky said the township’s traffic engineer said the method is a proven method to slow down drivers.
Residents have long complained of drivers speeding along the residential Snowball Drive. Earlier this year, officials from the township met with residents about traffic in the neighborhood.

The shoulder and buffer along Snowball Drive are going out to bid along with line striping work on 15 Middletown streets.
In addition, the intersections of Snowball Drive and Veterans Highway (Route 413) will have stop signs added to them. The stop signs will only be added along Snowball Drive and allow for traffic coming off the faster Veterans Highway to have the right-of-way, Sadowsky said.

Sadowsky said the township is adding two small no parking zones – one around the clock and the other during afternoon hours – on Terrace Drive in Levittown near Pearl Buck Elementary School.

The no parking zones are small and near the entrances and exits to the school. They follow complaints about buses navigating the area, Sadowsky said.
