A man was critically injured following a head-on crash along Woodbourne Road.
The head-on collision between a sedan and pickup truck happened just before 7 a.m. Thursday on the Woodbourne Road bend between East Lincoln Highway and Terrace Road in Middletown’s Levittown section, police said.

Bystanders told LevittownNow.com that the sedan was on fire before being put out. Firefighters were able to free the injured man from his mangled car after removing portions of the vehicle.
While the man driving the sedan was seriously hurt, the driver of the pickup truck was not badly injured.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation as of 9:15 a.m., Officer Andrew Herman said.

Woodbourne Road was closed between Maple Avenue (Route 213) and Terrace Road into mid-morning as police investigated.
While firefighters, medics, and police were at the serious crash, a second less-serious wreck with non-life-threatening injuries happened a few hundred yards away on Woodbourne Road.
