Police are investigating after a prank at Bristol Borough High School went too far.
On Thursday evening, students put up a “school is closed” banner outside of the high school on Wilson Avenue as an innocent senior prank. However, around midnight, the school was vandalized with bright green paint thrown in a hallway, graffiti on the building, and a goose left roaming inside, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Shaffer said.

While the first prank did not cause an issue, the second incident disrupted the pre-class routine and caused district staff to have to clean the mischief up, Shaffer said.
The paint was eventually removed and turned out to be water-based, not leaving permanent damage, the superintendent said.
The goose, Shaffer confirmed, survived the ordeal and was released into the wild.

District officials were able to retrieve security camera footage of the building overnight, but did not determine how students were able to get in after hours as of Friday afternoon.
Shaffer commended district staff for their efforts to clean up the building.
