The much-anticipated Pennsbury Prom is happening Saturday.
Prom-goers at Pennsbury High School in Falls Township will travel through the decades of music. This year’s prom theme is “Prom to the Music.”

Here’s how the district describes it:
From a two-story, 3D tribute to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” to Broadway show tunes, the handmade decorations will also include classic album covers, a replica of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame building in Cleveland, and a tribute to jazz music, among many other musical genres and classics. A gigantic Pennsbury Falcon holding a musical boombox will swoop in over the prom-goers in the gym.
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame President and CEO Greg Harris will also be in attendance to crown the Senior Prom King and Queen in front of the Hall of Fame replica in the gym. Mr. Harris is a proud alumnus of Pennsbury High School, Class of 1983!
To add to this year’s excitement, the students of Pennsbury High School are attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the largest mural of kisses — a wall-sized, 3D sign that spells ROCK MUSIC covered with lip prints. An 18-foot-tall guitar (also covered with kisses) will serve as the centerpiece to the 53-foot-long mural. The current world record stands at 13,316 kisses in Brazil in 2012. Pennsbury plans to shatter this number with over 40,000 lip prints glued to the mural. The school’s carefully-documented attempt to break the world record has been nearly a year in the making!
This year, rapper Desiigner is performing along with a midnight set by DJ Pauly D, who first took part in the school’s prom a few years ago. Desiigner’s performance is presented by ad agency 43 OAK founder and CEO, Sean Grevy, a Pennsbury High School 2007 graduate.

The public festivities for “Prom to the Music” start at noon with a public walk-through of the amazing decorations. The district notes the walk-through will end promptly at 3 p.m.

Each year, Pennsbury High School opens its doors to the public from noon until 3 p.m. to allow the community to walk through the entire first floor of the building and enjoy the detailed prom decorations, from the two-story entry foyer to the student dining room, hallways, the gymnasium, even the boys’ and girls’ lavatories! Residents of all ages share in the excitement and are awestruck by what they see at every turn. Many alumni come back every year to enjoy the new theme.

Next, the much-anticipated 2019 Prom Arrival Parade begins on the access road that connects the West and East campus of the high school. The parade starts at 5:15 p.m. and goes until 7:30 p.m. The route is usually packed with thousands of people who have come out to see what the district calls the ”country’s most unusual and creative forms of prom transportation.” After riding their awe-inspiring floats to the prom entrance, the prom-goers will use the red carpet to enter the prom. This year there are rumors swirling that a huge potato will be among this year’s floats.
Here’s the forecasted weather for Pennsbury Prom: Sunny skies for the afternoon and chances of scattered storms and thunderstorms in the evening. Temperatures will go from a high of 84 degrees in the afternoon to a low of 63 toward the end of the festivities.
