A teenage boy was yanked from the rushing water by firefighters off Snowball Drive near Silverspruce Lane in Middletown’s Levittown section. The boy appeared unconscious as firefighters carted him to a waiting ambulance while a medic from the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad performed steady chest compressions.
The 15-year-old boy was with friends in the creek when he fell out of a kayak and was swept under the current, Chief of Police Joseph Bartorilla said.
Emergency responders worked on the boy in the ambulance for several minutes before rushing him to St. Mary Medical Center.

Bartorilla said the boy was reported to have a pulse at the hospital.

A firefighter at the scene, who appeared soaked and in shock, was taken by the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad. His condition was not immediately known.

Firefighters used a rescue boat to remove the teen from the water.
While rescuers declined to speak at the scene, a bystander said in a phone call that he arrived around 8:30 p.m. to find firefighters running toward the waterway before the teen was pulled out.
Prior to the rescue, Mill Creek spilled its banks and had covered a portion of Snowball Drive.
