The Burger King in Penndel abruptly closed its doors this week.
LevittownNow.com readers said the location was closed and its windows were boarded up on Monday. Its signs and menu boards were removed and sat in the parking lot.

A view in the window of the fast food eatery showed the interior of the restaurant was mostly empty, but Burger King point of sale systems remained illuminated.
The fast-food restaurant had been open at its location on West Lincoln Highway at Noeland Avenue for about four decades before closing.
A sign on the window said the Burger King “closed for maintenance.”

Penndel Borough Council President Beverly Wolfe said she was not aware of the reason for the closure until contacted by a reporter.
Calls to Burger King’s press office and the franchise owner for the location were not immediately returned.
