Close to 500 runners took part in #StandUpNeshaminy’s Sunset Challenge race last Friday evening.

The run at Maple Point Middle School in Middletown was created to spread awareness and bring the community together to tackle the addition crisis and also offer students a healthy lifestyle alternative.
Neshaminy School District spokesperson Chris Stanley said at least two of the district’s elementary schools started walking clubs to get ready for the race. More walking clubs are planned for other schools.
Any funds raised through the race will be used to support #StandUpNeshaminy initiatives that include seminars and assemblies, creating printed material on addiction prevention and help, and starting #StandUpNeshaminy school clubs.

“This race was organized by a great team including teachers Monica Millevoi, Andrea Piccinetti, Beth McGinty, and Jan King along with Monica’s daughter Olivia and Beth’s daughter Avery. I provided organizational, and creative and publicity support. We had volunteers from every school including teachers, support staff, students, family members and tremendous cooperation and help from the Middletown Township Police, the Middletown Township Parks and Recreation Department, the Bucks County Sheriff, Neshaminy School District, and lots of generous community sponsors,” Stanley said.
“This was truly a community effort and we’re looking forward to doing it again next year.”
