Pennsbury Student Earns Widener University High School Leadership Award

A Pennsbury High School student was recognized recently with an award for his work with a local youth soccer program for kids and young adults with special needs.

Benjamin Wachpress was awarded the Widener University High School Leadership Award recently at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. He was among a number of students from Bucks County to receive the award but the only one from Levittown-area school districts.

Wachpress, the son of school board member Deb Wachpress, was picked for his leadership skills and commitment to work with the Special Stars soccer program for kids and young adults with autism or Asperger’s syndrome.

The Widener University High School Leadership Award was presented in partnership with NBC 10.

Students who are recognized with the Widener University High School Leadership Award are named Apogee Scholars and receive a $20,000 scholarship over four years if they attend Widener University.
