Man Makes Plea Deal In Apartment Complex Arson Case

A Levittown man who had been accused of starting a fire at an apartment complex struck a negotiated guilty plea deal with prosecutors this week.

Gregory Louis Becker V, 21, of Levittown, entered a negotiated guilty plea to a felony count of conspiracy to commit arson on Monday before Bucks County Judge Wallace Bateman.

The judge sentenced Becker to one day less than one year to one day less than two years with three years probation. He was granted parole and and ordered to pay $32,212.80.

Becker was charged with intentionally setting a fire at the Orangewood Apartments off Mill Creek Road in Bristol Township on the morning of Sunday, December 17, 2017. Court papers stated the fire was set after he was upset about kicked out of the apartment he shared with his co-tenant.

Crews from multiple fire companies rushed to the scene and one apartment was destroyed with several others damaged. No residents were hurt.

“Mr. Becker was involved in a very toxic relationship and was going through a very difficult time in his life. He made a one time error in judgment and is exceedingly sorry for his actions. He is thrilled to be home and reunited with his family,” Becker’s attorney Lou Busico said.

The fire was investigated by Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito and the Philadelphia Fire Department’s acceleratant detection K-9 was brought in to assist.
