Officers found the apartment door locked and they could hear Clark Bowens, of Hamilton, New Jersey, yelling inside. A woman ended up opening the door and blood was spotted throughout the apartment, police said.
An officer spotted Bowens standing near a door holding a large butcher knife, which he threw to the ground once he spotted law enforcement, police said.
The woman told an investigator that Bowens punched her in the face after an argument. He then grabbed a large butcher knife and tried to stab the woman, slashing one of her fingers, police said.

A female relative of Bowens was in the apartment and came to the aid of the woman he was going after, also causing a slash wound to one of her fingers, police said.
Bowens was arraigned by District Judge Jan Vislosky on two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment, along with single counts of disorderly conduct and harassment. He was sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10 percent of $200,000.
