No Life-Threatening Injuries After Mustang Smashes Into Bar

A car slammed into the side of a bar that had numerous people inside early Sunday morning.

An older Ford Mustang struck a utility pole outside and then slammed through the wall of Club Capri at Gabrielle’s Restaurant on Emilie Road and Cinder Lane in Bristol Township’s Levittown section around 2:25 a.m. The vehicle ended up completely inside the building before is came to a rest.

Fire officials said there was an initial report of entrapment, but no one was trapped when they pulled up on the scene.

Despite numerous people being inside the bar, there were no life-threatening injuries, and the driver was taken into the custody of police.

Two people were transported to the hospital for treatment, officials said.

The building sustained major damage from the Mustang punching a hole in it, officials said.

On Facebook, Chris Shoemaker, a patron of the business, described what happened: “It was the loudest noise I ever heard. My first thought was a lightning strike, then when I saw the flying debris I thought it was a bomb. It was really scary. I’m just glad no one got killed.”

He wrote that his one friend had a broken orbital bone around his right eye and a scratched cornea while two other friends were trapped between the car and jukebox.

A flatbed tow truck pulled Mustang from the building following the crash, and PECO crews worked to restore power to the area.

It was not immediately clear what caused the car to crash. A request for more information was sent to police.

The Edgely, Levittown No. 2, and Newportville fire companies responded along with police and the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad.
