Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said a worker was detailing cars when he noticed his work van was on fire. The van, which was filled with cans of paint and lacquer and aerosol spray cans, became engulfed in flames despite the worker’s attempt to use a fire extinguisher. The flames ended up extending to three nearby cars.

Fighting the fire was complicated by the cans bursting due to the heat, but crews were able to put down the blaze before it spread further, McGuire said.
As firefighters were working to put down the flames, a can of paint shot past McGuire’s head and landed on the hood of another car, causing damage to its hood, he said.
