While the county’s police departments will be on patrol to welcome the new year, Middletown will have extra officers looking out for DUI drivers.
Middletown will use PennDOT funds to conduct “enhanced roving DUI patrols” from 10 p.m. Monday to 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office. The exact amount of funds being devoted to the effort was not released.

“Please celebrate the New Year safely with friends and family. Don’t drink or do drugs and drive,” said Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub. “Police departments all over the county are on high alert for DUIs tonight. If you drive hammered, you’ll get nailed.”
The PennDOT grant will also fund additional DUI patrols in Plumstead, Upper Southampton, Warrington, and Richland.
Authorities encouraged revelers to stay home or find a sober ride home for the New Year.
