Police Log: Man Arrested During Uber Trip, Fatal Overdose & More

December 1

Possession Of Drugs

A 42-year-old man was questioned after sitting outside a gas station for an hour. The registration of the vehicle the man was in was suspended for insurance reasons. An officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man and a woman in the vehicle denied any knowledge of drugs in the vehicle. A search found multiple baggies of a variety of drugs were located in the vehicle around the driver’s seat and in backpacks.

December 3

Traffic Stop

An officer on patrol in the area of Lincoln Highway and South Bellevue Avenue checked a registration tag and found it to be a “dead tag.” The vehicle was stopped and officers officers made contact with three occupants. Drug paraphernalia was spotted in plain view on the floor of the driverโ€™s seat and in the console. The front passenger – a 28-year-old man – stated he had marijuana on him as well as some paraphernalia in his pockets. The driver of the vehicle gave a fake name and the third person in the car had an active arrest warrant out of Montgomery County. All three people in the vehicle were arrested.

Fraud

A business owner reported that his business credit card had possibly been skimmed and had been used at a variety of stores in the area.ย Fraudulent purchases were made at convenience stores in the amounts of $300 and $400, possibly for gift cards. Police were reviewing surveillance video for suspects and suspect vehicle information.

December 7

Possession Of Marijuana

Officers were conducting a traffic detail in the Our Lady of Grace school zone on Hulmeville Avenue when a vehicle traveled through at a high rate of speed. The 59-year-old male driver was found to have marijuana and paraphernalia in his vehicle.

December 8

DUI

An officer spotted a vehicle on westbound Lincoln Highway driving in a dangerous fashion and cutting off cars. The vehicle made a turn and went up and over a curb before returning to the roadway. The officer caught up to the vehicle and observed it make multiple abrupt course corrections before stopping. The 35-year-old woman behind the wheel had the odor of an alcoholic substance from her breath and person. She was unable to complete a field sobriety test.

December 14

Fatal Overdose

Officers and medics responded to Crescent Street for an overdose. The person had died from the overdose. Officers were informed the person had a history of drug abuse and paraphernalia was found their body.

December 20

Possession Of Drugs

The 35-year-old male passenger in an Uber that was pulled over for traffic violation was found to have suspected heroin and marijuana on him. He also had an active Philadelphia warrant and was turned over to the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office.
