Bristol Borough police said Tuesday that they were still investigating the death of a woman found just off Bath Road near Silver lake Park last month.

The 60-year-old woman’s body was found on a sidewalk beneath a guardrail around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 23 when borough officers and the Bucks County Rescue Squad were dispatched.

Police said an autopsy revealed the woman died of a wound to her head. The injury may have come from striking the guardrail.

During the course of the investigation, Bristol Township police received word from the family of an 85-year-old woman who lives in the township that she reported she struck something in the area of where the woman’s body was found. The woman said she “heard something strike her mirror as she traveled on Bath Street,” police said.

The elderly woman reportedly checked her vehicle and the area after hearing the noise and noticed nothing of concern.

The elderly woman’s family heard the story the next day and contacted police.

“The investigation is continuing and is also being reviewed by the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office,” borough Chief of Police Steve Henry said.

Authorities have attempted to contact the family of the deceased woman, who is believed to have been homeless, and have been unsuccessful as of Tuesday, Henry said.
