UPDATED: Hot Ash Likely To Blame For House Fire

Fire Marshal Jim McGuire said the blaze appears to have been started by hot ash that was placed in a trash can near the side of the home. The fire spread up the side of the home and eventually extended into the dwelling.

One resident was home and escaped the fire, McGuire said.

No injuries were reported.

Flames ripped through a home in Middletown Thursday evening.

The fire struck a home on Strawberry Lane off Langhorne-Yardley Road around 5:15 p.m. Firefighters rushed through rush hour traffic to get to the scene.

Flames were visible as firefighters fought them, and the blaze was placed under control shortly before 6 p.m.

An update on the fire is expected later Thursday evening.
