A Penndel police SUV was severely damaged in a Monday crash.

Middletown police said a Penndel officer was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated when the wreck happened at West Lincoln Highway and Hulmeville Road near the Penndel border around 5 p.m.

There were no serious injuries in the three-vehicle crash, but all three drivers, including the officer, was taken to the hospital, according to Middletown police Chief Joseph Bartorilla and Captain Pete Feeney.

A car that pulled in front of the responding officer appears to have caused the crash, but there has not been a final determination as the incident remains under investigation, police said.

“The vehicle that [the officer] was driving was severely damaged,” Penndel Chief of Police Sean Perry said, “but a vehicle can be replace; my officer can not be.”
