A dog festival that supports a nonprofit that assists people with disabilities will be taking place Saturday at Silver Lake Nature Center in Bristol Township.
The Canine Companions DogFest Philly will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature a dog costume parade, raffles, games, family fun, and vendors.

“DogFest Philly is celebrating the community of people and dogs that make it possible for Canine Companions for Independence to place assistance dogs with children, adults and veterans free of charge. These highly trained assistance dogs make a profound impact through the jobs they do, including opening doors, picking up dropped items, alerting to sounds and much more,” organizers said.
There are some rules for the event, according to organizers: Dogs must be social and friendly with other dogs and people, dogs must be comfortable in crowds, dogs have to be up to date on vaccinations, and no female dogs in heat.
