Officer Paul Runner wrote in court papers that he spoke with a man who said Michael Dalin, 38, approached him on the platform and asked who he was texting and if it was about him. At that time, Dalin began to punch the man and took his iPhone 6.

The man further told the officer that he approached Dalin to get his phone back and the 38 year old reached toward his belt area, causing the man to stop.

Dalin reportedly ran away from the train station and was chased down by Penndel Chief of Police Sean Perry along the railroad tracks. He was captured in the Commons of Middletown complex off Hulmeville Road.

While being taken into custody, Dalin was found with a large machete and the stolen iPhone 6, police said.

Dalin was arraigned by on-call District Judge William Benz Wednesday afternoon on charges of robbery, theft by unlawful taking, simple assault, and a weapons-related offense. He was jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.
