A Neshaminy High School teacher is a finalist in a national educational grant contest.

Maloney’s proposal consists of creative a “living classroom” where students will gather supplies, cultivate seedlings, tend to plants, and harvest and prepare vegetables for consumption and distribution in the area. The project will be a collaborative effort among specialized learning support program and AP environmental science students, providing a chance for students with intellectual disabilities to practice life and entrepreneurial skills.

An added benefit of the program will be that it will produce fresh vegetables for a food pantry and school projects.

“Maloney exemplifies what teaching is all about – lifting their students up to the best that they can be, and I urge the Langhorne community, the state of Pennsylvania, and the entire nation to vote to help bring the living classroom into Neshaminy High School and make Maloney’s big dream a reality,” said Tu-Han Phan, managing lead of Thank America’s Teachers for Farmers.

The public can review and vote on Maloney and other educators’ proposals on ThankAmericasTeachers.com through November 3, 2018 once per day.
