Van Hits Utility Pole, Knocks Out Power

More than 1,000 customers were without electric service following a crash in Bristol Township Monday evening.

The crash happened on Newport Road between Dixon Avenue and Laings Avenue around 6:30 p.m. A van left the roadway, struck a fence, and hit a utility pole, snapping it.

No serious injuries were reported.

The roadway was expected to be closed until PECO could come out to install a new utility pole.
