Bucks County will be spraying for mosquitoes in Bristol and Falls townships next week.
The county said in a press release that the spray will target mosquitoes capable of transmitting West Nile Virus Tuesday evening. Wednesday evening is a backup date if weather causes a delay.

In Bristol Township, the Crabtree Hollow neighborhood of Levittown bounded by Holly Lane and Crabtree Drive will be targeted. Additional spraying will hit the greenways on Birch Drive, Bald Cypress Lane, Everturn Lane, Exit Lane, Eventide Lane, and Magnolia Drive in both Falls and Bristol townships. Crews will also hit neighborhoods in Bensalem and Lower Makefield.
According to the county:
The treatments will be administered via truck-mounted equipment, spraying mosquito habitats in residential and park locations. Trucks used in the spray are identified with Bucks County seal logos located on the doors. The equipment dispenses DeltaGard at a rate 0.75 ounces per acre. This product is designed to provide quick, effective control of adult mosquito populations. This application material has a very low toxicity profile to mammals and will have negligible impact to non-target insects and the environment.
This year in Bucks County, 118 out of 405 mosquitoes tested for West Nile Virus have turned up positive, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data. No animals or humans in the county have tested positive.
