Despite Delays, Mill Run Project Still Moving Forward

An unexpected problem has caused the Mill Run renovation project in Bristol Borough to slow down.

Structural engineers found some concrete in the under-renovation facility was sagging and came up with a plan to shore up the five-story main building, said Michael Hollister, the attorney for the developer of the project.

Crews will install steel reinforcements near the existing walls on all five floors of the main building and apply a special grout to add stability, Hollister said.

The steel reinforcements take some time to put together because there is only one facility in the country that creates the items, which has caused a delay in the work, Hollister said.

The developers estimate that the repairs will add an extra $300,000 to the project.

Healthcare Stat Homecare is in the middle of their project to turn the long-vacant building into a mixed-use assisted care facility with other medical offices.

Before the current developers came forward in 2015, the building sat empty for several years after serving as a nursing home.

Hollister said the estimated opening date is September 2019.

Borough and county officials voted in 2015 to give the site Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance with the intention that the project will spur the area economy.
