The fire damaged a kitchen in the apartment and caused heat damaged throughout the rest of the unit. There was also minimal fire damage to the building’s attic, Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito said.

There were no injuries injures reported.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Dippolito said.

The fire marshal said the building’s smoke alarms woke the residents and arriving police officers alerted the rest of the building’s residents.

The American Red Cross is providing temporary housing to the displaced resident by the fire.
