A man who was stuck in the mud was removed by firefighters Sunday afternoon.
The man was out with his grandson at Playwicki Park in Middletown around 3:30 p.m. when he became stuck in waist-deep mud near the Neshaminy Creek.

The Bucks County Rangers were called to the scene and quickly asked for the Langhorne-Middletown, Parkland, and Lower Southampton fire companies to respond.
Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry said the firefighters used shovels to make their way to the stranded man. The rescuers slowly made their way out and helped the man onto a stokes basket.

“I mean, this was thick, deep mud he was in,” the chief said.

It took about 30 minutes for the man to be fully removed from the mud.
Farry said the man turned down medical care from the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Squad.

Firefighters, according to Farry, responded very quickly because they were heading back from another call in Middletown.
