Route 1 south is scheduled to close two days next week for bridge beam painting.
The closure will occur on Tuesday, May 22, and Wednesday, May 23 from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. This work follows repairs done in March to a beam on the Oxford Valley Road Bridge that was damaged after it was struck by an oversized vehicle in 2015, the PennDOT officials noted in a press release.

During construction, southbound Route 1 motorists will be directed to exit at Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramp at the interchange. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this area because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.
The bridge work was expected to close Route 1 south overnight this week, but rainy weather caused a delay, a PennDOT spokesperson said.
The Oxford Valley Road bridge over Route 1 is 167 feet long and 90 feet wide and carries about 31,000 vehicles a day. The three-span, steel-I beam bridge was built in 1972 and rehabilitated in August 2017 as part of a $11,766,000 project to rehabilitate four structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, and replace six structurally-deficient culverts in Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, is the general contractor on this bridge repair project.
