A Bristol Borough art studio that came to life with no explicit plan before opening is set to celebrate its fifth birthday in May.
Surviving five years in business, Penelope Fox Art Studio at 10 Canal Street in Bristol Borough will hold a craft fair on Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jina Dierolf, the owner of the studio, explained that the fair is a way to celebrate her history of the studio in town as well as give back to the community that has supported the studio since it was founded.

“It’s our fifth year and we want to celebrate it,” she said.
The studio began with a single Sunday class. Dierolf continued to get requests for different classes and the business grew.
“It just kind of happened and I went with it,” Dierolf said.

“Whatever the public has asked for, I have found a way to make it happen.”
As a result, Penelope Fox Art Studio now hosts kids classes, adult classes, birthday parties, and sip and paint events.

The business’ birthday celebration and craft fair is looking to give back to the community that has supported it in the five years it has been around. The craft fair is including local businesses and crafters. The fair is an event to celebrate everyone local, Dierolf said.
The event will be offering four free art demonstrations to attendees. The demonstrations offer glances into the art classes hosted by the studio.
“I think it is a type of personal therapy,” Dierolf said, talking about the importance of practicing art.

The practice can be deeply personal. As a child, Dierolf said she drew in secret.
“I just think it is a part of our well being,” Dierolf said. “It colors the world and makes it more interesting,” Dierolf went on.
