A portion of Route 1 will close overnight this week for bridge painting.
PennDOT said that Route 1 southbound in Falls, Middletown, and Lower Makefield townships will close at the Oxford Valley Road interchange Wednesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. for bridge and beam painting.

During the painting, traffic in the southbound lanes will be directed to use the Oxford Valley Road exit and then re-enter the highway via the Route 1 entrance ramp.
Repair work on the 167-foot-long bridge was completed in March. The three-span, steel-I beam bridge was built in 1972 and required an $11.7 million rehabilitation after being struck by an oversized truck in 2015.
