Catie Turner took the “American Idol” audience to church Sunday night.

The 18-year-old Neshaminy High School student performed Hozier’s 2013 hit “Take Me to Church” during the Top 14 final performance episode that aired on ABC.
Turner used her strong vocals to carry the alternative hit and came alive on stage during the final portion of the song.
In a pre-performance video package, Turner talked about negativity she has seen online following her stint on the hit musical competition song.

Turner said she did not think she had a chance to win “American Idol,” but judge Luke Bryan disagreed after hearing her performance.
“Listen to what the man’s saying. I am telling you, what I love most about you is that you are truly authentic unto yourself. I’m telling you, there’s nothing else like you. Take that, love it, okay? You’re on your way to something, my dear,” judge Lionel Richie said.

Judge Katy Perry told Turner she would love to perform with her in the future.
Tuner needs all the votes she can get to move forward on “American Idol.” The public can vote until 9 a.m. Monday on AmericanIdol.com, on the American Idol app or via text message. Rules state you can vote 10 times per device.
