A months-long project to remake a veteran’s family’s home in Bristol Township’s Croydon section ended with a ribbon cutting Friday morning.
The project, put together by the Travis Manion Foundation and the Entercom Communications Corporation, had the goal of re-building the home of a veteran who has lived in Bucks County for his entire life. Trost, a Bensalem native, joined the Air National Guard in 2010 and served with the 270th engineering installation squadron out of the Horsham Air Guard Station. Trost went to Afghanistan and was attached to the army. He was responsible for maintaining equipment and vehicles.
Trost and his wife Tara purchased their first home when he returned from service but were dismayed to find that the inspectors and real estate agents were not honest with them. The home needed a lot of work. According to information from the Travis Manion Foundation, the electrical systems were not up to code, the floors and roof were rotting and there was significant termite damage. The couple didn’t plan for the expenses, and quickly found themselves in a tough situation.
The Travis Manion Foundation, Entercom, and community organizations came together to provide the Trost family with some relief. On Friday morning, the ribbon was cut and the couple saw their new home for the first time.

“Operation Legacy” is a twice yearly initiative put on by the foundation and community partners. The program work to give back to someone who has served.
The preparation for the latest project on Sycamore Avenue in Croydon began as soon as the last renovation effort wrapped up in November.

“They couldn’t have been happier,” Josh Jabin, the COO of the Doylestown-based Travis Manion Foundation, said of the Trosts.
“I think that what is important is that all of us have the opportunity to strengthen America’s character,” Jabin said.
“Every person in the community has the ability to make a positive impact – big or small,” he added.

The Travis Manion Foundation was formed after the death of First U.S.Marine Corps. Lt. Travis Manion in 2007. He was killed in Iraq while working to save wounded teammates.
