A number of Lower Bucks County police departments will be taking part in an aggressive driving enforcement detail that runs through April 29.
Bensalem, Lower Southampton, Penndel, Upper Southampton, and Yardley police are among the 62 municipal departments in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties taking part in the enforcement effort. Authorities in Philadelphia are also involved.

“Our number one goal is to keep our roads safe,” said PennDOT District 6 Executive Kenneth M. McClain. “This type of aggressive driving enforcement coupled with community outreach and education will reduce dangerous driving behaviors that put motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians at risk.”
“Municipal police departments will be targeting motorists exhibiting aggressive-driving behaviors such as running red lights, speeding and tailgating,” PennDOT officials said.
PennDOT offered the following tips for motorist who may encounter an aggressive driver:
- Get out of their way and don’t challenge them;
- Stay relaxed, avoid eye contact and ignore rude gestures; and
- Don’t block the passing lane if you are driving slower than most of the traffic.

The enforcement effort is part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by part of PennDOT’s investment of federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Since 2006, the program has targeted 600 roadways in the state.
