Bristol Borough Council voted last week to award a maintenance contract for sports fields in the borough to Leo Plenski.
The contract with Leo Plenski is a four-year agreement worth $48,000 total, or $12,000 each year.

The contract has been in Plenski’s family for nearly 10 years, explained borough manager James Dillon. In that time, the rate has remained the same.
There was mild dissension before the vote when councilman David Girard asked about putting the contract out to bid. Girard was met with agreement by councilmen Tony Riccio and Tony Devine.
“I have no animosity towards Leo,” Girard said.

The discussion included Council President Ralph DiGuiseppe II arguing that it would be hard to find anyone willing to maintain the fields on Jefferson Avenue and Otter Street let alone anyone willing to do the job for cheaper than Plenski.
In a role call vote, council members Greg Pezza, Betty Rodriguez, Louis Quattrocchi and Ralph DiGuiseppe II voted to award the contract to Plenski. Girard, Riccio and Devine voted no. Councilwoman Lorraine Cullen was absent from the meeting.
