The Bristol Township School District issued a statement Friday about rumors floating around online.
The district statement refutes a recent Facebook posting that alleged an expelled student who had made threats of violence in the past had been allowed back to Harry S. Truman High School.

The district said the post, which has since been removed, featured “false allegations.”

The recent multiple homicides in Parkland Florida were profoundly tragic and unnecessary/ Schools should be safe places—safe physically, emotionally—learning environments where students thrive without fear of physical violence and the attendant damage and turmoil.
In the wake of Parkland, false allegations surfaced in a Facebook page purporting to publicize information about events in the Bristol Township School District. These statements were brought to the District’s attention by several concerned residents and parents. The posts inaccurately described the return of a student to Harry S. Truman High School from a one-year expulsion, as having been related to gun violence and related threats. These representations are patently false and unfounded. The circumstances leading to the expulsion were not related to weapons or threats of violence.
District administration immediately responded to the false allegations, and provided accurate information, to the extent legally allowed, in balancing the rights of the district community, and of the affected student. No threats of violence were made, nor were any students or staff endangered.
The Bristol Township School District works vigilantly to monitor all activity that may affect its students and staff. All appropriate measures have and will be taken when credible threats to the safety and well-being of all have been received.
