A sign held by a man in a knit cap at the busy corner of Pine Street and Maple Avenue in Langhorne Borough read “honk to end gun violence.”
Car by car, drivers honked for close to an hour as the man and several dozen others held signs at the Friday evening vigil that advocated for changes to gun laws in America.

The group called for lawmakers to take action to amend gun laws with the aim of reducing the number of mass shootings in the country. The vigil was a reaction to the shooting that killed 17 Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Elected officials need to look at the type of weapons that are on the market and available to the public, Anne Pullis of Middletown said.
“This keeps happening and it shouldn’t,” Pullis said of mass shootings.

Levittown resident Carol Karwowski voiced her concern that incidents like those in Florida repeatedly happen and lawmakers do nothing.
“We need to stop normalizing violence,” Donna Brunnquell of Yardley said.

Following the vigil, a discussion was held at The Peace Center down the street.
The vigil was put on by The Peace Center, the Bux-Mont Collation for Peace, Rise Up Doylestown, The Rainbow Room, Bucks Against Violence, Ceasefire PA and Bucks Safe.
Democratic congressional candidates Rachel Reddick and Steve Bacher were on hand. In addition, Democratic state senate candidate Steve Santarsiero was in attendance.
