Toys R Us announced Wednesday that its store along Lincoln Highway in Middletown would remain open as the company looks to emerge from bankruptcy.
While the Middletown location will not be closing this winter or spring, the company said in a statement to the media that its Horsham, Montgomery County, and Burlington, New Jersey, stores will shutter in the coming months. Nationwide, the New Jersey-based toy retailer plans to close 180 stores.

In a letter to the public, CEO David Brandon said the company will also work to spruce up many stores and even co-brand some locations as Toys R Us and Babies R Us locations. The list of stores that will be updated was not released Wednesday.
The CEO also said Toys R Us will work to improve the shopping experience both in-store and online. The company plans to rework their price matching and loyalty programs.
Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the lead up to the holiday shopping season last year due to a large debt load and changing shopping habits.

Brandon said the iconic brand has not plans to got out of business and hopes to serve customers for decades to come.
