The Pennsbury School District is teaming up with the Caron Foundation to provide a “Prevention Resources and Education for Parents” (PREP) program to the public at the end of January.
The program is designed for parents and caregivers of middle and high school. According to information released by the school district, PREP’s main objectives revolve around providing information and resources regarding possible substance abuse among school aged kids.

One important factor for PREP is the empowerment of parents and caregivers in terms of communication with their kids and discussing protecting kids from substance abuse and addiction.
Many teens say that they want their parents to talk to them about substance abuse and parents are typically the number one influence in teens’ lives, the district said.
Pennsbury stepped up their efforts to tackle substance and mental health problems with students last year. The district formed a task force to work with students and the community.

The presentation is set for January 24 at 7 p.m. at William Penn Middle School at 1524 Derbyshire Road in Lower Makefield. The snow date for the event is January 30.
