Despite a narrow budget approval, Middletown residents will not see a tax increase in 2018.
The budget was approved last month 3-2 by the Board of Supervisors. The 2018 budget, available for viewing here, includes $31,971,750 in operational expenditures and $4,811,500 in capital expenditures.

The township will uphold the 17.570 millage rate that equals $514 for the average assessed property.
Board of Supervisors Secretary H. George Leonhauser voted against the budget, citing the its lack of an additional police officer or public works employee. The police department is the township’s highest expenditure, accounting for 51 percent.
The township has included a $1.5 million investment for roadway repairs within the budget, along with work on traffic signals and streetlights. According to township budget documents, revenue from the Earned Income Tax has been strong since its inception in 2014 and has helped bring the fund balance in the General Fund above targeted levels.
