Accused Drug Dealer Charged With Selling Laced Heroin That Killed Woman

Police filed charges Friday against a Morrisville Borough man who they allege sold drugs that led to the death of a woman last year.

In court documents filed by Falls Township Detective Matt Tomcho and Morrisville Borough Corporal Michael Pitcher, investigators allege Taylor Hopkins, 25, sold the drugs that killed 43-year-old Maryanne Cominsky inside the Country House Motel on May 4, 2017.

An autopsy revealed the 43 year old had heroin and fentanyl in her system at the time of her death.  

Through interviews, police determined that Cominsky had made a call to purchase heroin from a dealer named “G” or “J” and who drives a silver Hyundai while at the motel. After receiving the drugs and after going in the bathroom, a man in the room heard noises and found Cominsky on the ground. He helped her up to the bed but she returned to the bathroom where she became unresponsive. The man with Cominsky, who has not been charged with a crime, fled the room and called a woman who ended up dialing 9-1-1.  

A bag stamped “KANYE” was found near Cominsky’s body and Hopkins later told an informant after the woman’s death that he would have to change the stamp on his drugs to “Kevin Hart” to avoid police catching on following a woman’s death.

During a recorded conversation between the second informant and Hopkins, Hopkins was asked if he was selling the same drugs that Cominsky died from. He responded, “yeah,” and said it was the “same stuff.”

One of two informants police used said Hopkins was known as “G” or “J” and drove a Hyundai, police said.

Police said Hopkins began using a new phone number after Cominsky’s death out of fear the police were investigating him.

During the course of the investigation, one of the informants bought heroin from Hopkins in Middletown with police monitoring the buys. Some of the bundles were labed “KANYE.”

Detectives from Falls and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office interviewed Hopkins at some point in their investigation and he admitted to selling heroin.

In late June, Bucks County Detectives and Falls and Morrisville officers executed a search on Hopkins home on East Maple Avenue in the borough. They said in court papers they recovered 258 bags of suspected heroin in a baby formula container, including 68 bags of suspected heroin that were labeled “Kevin Hart.” They also found 80 bags of suspected heroin labeled “KANYE” and 110 bags that were labeled “YVS.” Two handguns, cell phones, a digital scale, $500, a small amount of marijuana, burnt marijuana cigarettes and a grinder containing marijuana residue were also found.

Members of the U.S. Marshal Service’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Hopkins Wednesday in Trenton.

The warrant filed Friday against Hopkins in Bucks County was for drug delivery resulting in death, a number of drug-related offenses, criminal use of a communication facility and reckless endangerment.

Hopkins was held in Mercer County Prison as of Friday, and he was awaiting his extradition back to Pennsylvania.
