A Bristol Township apartment was more like a dirty petting zoo than a place for two humans live, according to allegations laid out in court papers.
Police from the township and the Bucks County SPCA last month executed a search warrant in the E building on the Stonebridge Run Apartment Complex on Bath Road along with the Bristol Township animal control officer. They were first alerted to possible problems by complex management.

A strong smell of ammonia and house flies were present at the second landing of the apartment building. Police said Ann Lynn Reddy, 58, told law enforcement to leave her alone when they knocked on the door and informed her why they were there.
According to court papers, a maintenance worker helped law enforcement gain entry, where officials were greeted with the scent of cat urine and the large presence of house flies. Police also saw three loose parrots and a caged cockatoo in the apartment. Court paperwork stated a fifth parrot would later be found in the bath tub and that the caged cockatoo was missing many feathers. A large number of cats were also found in the apartment.
Throughout the living area, officials found trash mixed with feces and urine. Five large bird cages were visible, all containing trash, seed waste and dirty water, police said.

During the search, officials removed 31 cats and five birds, according to Bucks County SPCA Officer Nikki Thompson. Ten of the cats appeared pregnant and there were 10 kittens, authorities noted in court papers.
All of the animals showed signs of living in unsanitary conditions. A few of the animals were found to be suffering from severe illnesses and needed immediate surgery, court papers stated.

Warren Muffler, 48, and Reddy were charged with 72 misdemeanors, including two conspiracy neglect charges and two neglect of vet care charges, along with 34 conspiracy neglect of animals in regards to shelter and 34 charges of neglect regarding shelter.
Muffler and Reddy, according to court records, had fallen behind on rent at their apartment in the past and had to go to court for the matter earlier this year.
The two were charged via summons.
